Special Trips (see dates on schedule)

Cowgirls ONLY Week!

These trips can be booked any week on schedule as long as there is a minimum of 4 women, and no other clients are booked during that week.

These special weeks are set aside for the gals. Cowgirls will spend two days learning the ins & outs of roping, team penning and barrel racing. Then we spend 2 nights & 3 days camping and riding out on trial. If you ever dreamed of being a real cowgirl or just wanted more advanced horsemanship and a little taste of Rodeo experience, this week is for you.

Gila Wilderness

Well it's a bit of a drive, but well worth the visit. This is the largest National Forest and probably the least well known and non-crowded in the U.S. We will visit the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument; soak our weary riding bones in the natural hot springs, and ride through some of the most beautiful rivers, rock formations and spectacular lush canyons you have ever seen.

We will be driving and trailering the horses from Rio Rico, Arizona to New Mexico. The Gila Wilderness is 44-miles from Silver City, New Mexico. A vast area of 438,000 acres, set in the much larger Gila National Forest (2.7 million acres), this completely unspoiled wilderness is the perfect place for a summer adventure with its deep canyons featuring desert agave vegetation, hot springs, 400 miles of fishing streams and on the upper slopes, thick forests of spruce and fir.

Next to the protected wilderness is the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, a series of ancient Indian dwellings that are set in high caves above the middle fork of the Gila River. You will climb the canyon and then ladders to see up close how these native people lived.

Although this trip occurs in the early summer, the elevation, river and forest provide much cooler and comfortable weather for riding. Side trips to the Silver City Rodeo or a historic steak house located in Pinos Altos are also a possibility.
