Tips for Packing

The following is a packing suggestion list of everything you will need to be comfortable. Because the weather can be unpredictable, be prepared for anything. Use the layer system of clothing - where items can be added or taken off if the temperature changes (even in the warmer months it is still cool in the mornings and evenings).

Bag #1 - Suitcase or Duffel Bag (brought to camp by truck)

  • Passport (to enter Mexico)
  • Warm jacket or parka (a must for winter months)
  • Sweater or sweatshirt & sweatpants
  • Jeans (tight fitting are best for riding to prevent saddle sores)
  • Shirts, t-shirts and cowboy/girl shirts (long & short sleeve for layering)
  • Boot socks or heavy wool or cotton socks (3 or 4 pair)
  • Toiletries - toothbrush, handy wipes, soap, shaving kit, etc.
  • Medications - please be sure to notify RTW of any special needs

    Optional Items:
  • Cocktail liquor, beer or wine (can be purchased locally, 21+ only!)
  • Books, magazines

Bag #2 - Saddle bag/Cantle bag (provided by the outfitter)

Items to bring during the day while on the trail:

  • Camera with extra film
  • Hat with brim, tie-strap is recommended
  • Gloves, Sunglasses, Sunscreen & Lip Balm
  • 2 Small water bottle or canteen
